True wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord (Prov 1:7). It all starts with a reverence for God, acknowledging His sovereignty, and recognizing our own limitations. However, wisdom does not end there. Our lives stand or fall according to our attitude toward God and His wisdom in sending His Son to a failing world (Prov 24; John 3). If we acknowledge Him in our lives, we be blessed and enjoy our inheritance in Christ Jesus. On the other hand, if we ignore His wisdom, we will eventually lose our blessing and inherit the wind. This Christmas, whether you are a believer or seeking, I invite you to acknowledge God’s wisdom in sending His Son to save you. Put your faith in God’s wisdom, not your own’s. Merry Christmas!
Resisting Tyrants: Lessons from Al-Sisi and Assad
Thomas Jefferson once said, “Resisting tyranny is obedience to God.” This assertion emphasizes that resisting any form of tyranny is not only a moral duty but a divine one. Tyrants, regardless of their severity, perpetuate evil, and their rule should be opposed to uphold justice and human dignity. In the following lines, I will examine two modern-day tyrants. They are Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt and Bashar al-Assad of Syria. Their oppressive regimes illustrate the inherent dangers of tyranny and the inevitable need for their downfall.
The Nature of Tyrants
A tyrant, by definition, is an oppressive ruler who wields power unjustly and cruelly. There are no “good” or “bad” tyrants—only tyrants whose rule inflicts suffering upon their people. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the current President of Egypt, rose to power through a military coup in 2013. Under his rule, Egypt has experienced a crackdown on dissent. Thousands of political prisoners are held, and freedoms are restricted. Human rights abuses are widespread. The people of Egypt find themselves under the iron grip of a military tyrant who prioritizes his regime’s stability over the welfare of his citizens.
The Syrian Parallel: Bashar al-Assad
Similarly, Bashar al-Assad, the President of Syria, has become infamous for his brutal suppression of opposition. Since the outbreak of the Syrian Civil War in 2011, many have accused Assad’s regime of numerous war crimes. These accusations include the use of chemical weapons against civilians, widespread torture, and indiscriminate bombings. Assad’s tyranny has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrians and displaced millions. His fall, while yet to be realized, is a testament to the relentless suffering inflicted by tyrannical rule.
Caught Between Tyranny and Extremism
Many Egyptian Christians face a dire choice. They are trapped between a military tyrant who kills his own people and Islamists who wish to impose seventh-century Shariah law. This predicament leaves me with no feasible options for a peaceful and just society. The dilemma must change, or the country will collapse under the weight of tyranny and extremism. The fall of Assad in Syria serves as a grim reminder. It shows what happens when tyranny is left unchecked. Chaos and terrorism fill the void.
The Inevitability of Fall
History has shown that no tyrant’ rule lasts forever. Eventually, they all fall, often leaving behind a trail of destruction and instability. Al-Sisi’s regime, like Assad’s, will eventually crumble under the pressure of its own oppressive weight. The alternative to tyrannical rule, however, must be carefully considered to avoid plunging the nation into further chaos.
Finally, resisting tyranny is not just a moral duty but a necessary act of obedience to God. Both notorious tyrants and seemingly mild ones perpetuate evil and suffering. The parallels between Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Bashar al-Assad highlight the inherent dangers of tyrannical rule. As a Christian caught between two oppressive forces, I hold onto hope. I believe that change will come. Justice will prevail. The fall of tyrants like Al-Sisi and Assad is inevitable. However, creating a just and peaceful society requires vigilance, courage, and unwavering commitment to human dignity.
More Valuable than Silver and Gold
What G-d offers you is more valuable than silver and gold (Acts 3). He offers you His only Son, Yeshua, who can transform your heart. The Messiah is the living Word of Hashem; thus, He is the only one who can change you from a child of a sinful culture into a child of G-d. Moreover, He can free you from the confusion caused by the love of money, power, and fame. Your reality will change along with your heart, allowing you to see things and people in a new and different way. Finally, you can live free from excessive anxiety and fears about tomorrow because you can rest assured in God’s eternal hope in Messiah Yeshua.
So, will you accept G-d’s most precious offer to you? If your answer is yes, pray along with me:
Dear Lord, I thank you for Your most precious gift, Yeshua.
I confess my sins, and I put my faith in Him as my Lord and Savior.
Give me true freedom from my bondage and grant me peace that transcends all understanding.
In the name of Yeshua, I pray. Amen.

Redeeming Quality: A Hopeful Reflection on Civil War
The movie is not what I expected; it did not reflect the current political tensions between Trump and the Democrats, or between leftists and patriots. Essentially, it’s a thriller set against the backdrop of an ongoing civil war. The causes of the war are ambiguous, but they seem linked to the actions of the fictional president.
The movie is not bad, aside from the use of profanity (a lot of the S-word, F-word, etc.) Its most redeeming feature is the potential to act as a warning against the terrors of a real civil war. We must hope and pray that such a war never happens, allowing the United States to heal internally. In the end, we must remember that only God can truly save a nation.

The Importance of Truth in the Christian Life: Embracing God’s Call
We Christians agree that God is loving, good, and just. However, the God of the Bible is also the God of truth (Exodus 34:6; Deuteronomy 32:4). He loves truth, values truth, and reveals truth in His Word. In fact, we come to understand what truth truly is by knowing God and His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the embodiment of truth (John 14:6). Our God does not glorify delusion or superstition, and He does not wish for His children to adopt false views of life.
The importance of truth in the Christian life cannot be overstated. In a world filled with misinformation, half-truths, and outright lies, Christians are called to be beacons of truth. This calling extends beyond mere honesty in our words and actions. It requires a deep commitment to understanding and living out the truths revealed by God through His Word. The pursuit of truth is an act of worship, reflecting our desire to honor our God by our minds.
Christians are expected to pray and seek the truth about God, life, and themselves. A genuine Christian should not be comfortable with delusions, even for pragmatic reasons. Instead, we should pray to God for a realistic view of life. Truth, when embraced, shapes our worldview and influences our decisions, relationships, and purpose. It gives us a foundation that is unshakeable, rooted in the character of God.
Furthermore, the truth has a transformative power. Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Freedom in Christ means liberation from the bondage of sin, and the tyranny of falsehood. As we grow in our understanding of God’s truth, we are progressively freed from the chains of ignorance and deception.
Living in truth also means rejecting the temptation to conform to societal norms that contradict God’s Word. The world often promotes relative truth, suggesting that each person can determine their own reality. However, as Christians, we know that truth is not subjective. It is grounded in the unchanging nature of God. Our challenge, then, is to stand firm in our convictions, even when it is unpopular.
Christian brothers and sisters, I urge you to seek the truth and not settle for a delusional perspective. Pray to the God of truth to grant you the wisdom to see things as He sees them. Let us commit ourselves to a lifelong journey of discovering, embracing, and living out God’s truth. In doing so, we honor Him and fulfill our calling as His followers.
By seeking truth earnestly, we can experience the fullness of life that Jesus promised and be a light to a world desperately in need of clarity and direction. Embrace the truth, live the truth, and let God’s truth shine through you to touch the lives of others.
The Centrality of Christ
In the tapestry of the Christian faith, there is one thread that shines with unparalleled brilliance: the person of Christ. His presence should not only enhance our individual lives but also illuminate the collective spirit of the church. Imagine Christ at the very heart of every endeavor, and every conversation. He isn’t just a part of our lives; He is the vibrant pulse that animates our existence.
Let’s ponder this for a moment. Christ, the supreme sovereign, reigns not just in the grandeur of our spiritual landscapes but in the minutiae of our daily lives. His lordship isn’t a mere concept; it’s a living reality that permeates every corner of our being. For where Christ truly dwells, He rules with unwavering love and boundless grace. Consider, too, the Gospel, that beacon of hope and redemption. It’s not merely a doctrine to be memorized or a theory to be debated; it’s the symphony of Good News that resonates with the name of Jesus Christ. Salvation isn’t found in a set of beliefs; it’s found in the living, breathing person of Jesus Himself. He is the very essence of salvation, the wellspring of eternal life.
Therefore, let us proclaim Christ Jesus with boldness and conviction, knowing that He alone possesses the power to transform hearts and renew minds. Our words, infused with His divine presence, become vessels of grace, inviting all who hear to experience the transformative power of His love.
Finally, the centrality of Christ isn’t just a theological concept; it’s the heartbeat of our faith, pulsating with love, grace, and eternal significance. So let us fix our gaze upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and let His radiant presence illuminate our lives and our world.
Insights from Proverbs: Reroute (Prov. 17)
While I typically don’t talk much, I admit there are moments when I feel the pull to engage in gossip or dwell on the faults of others. However, wisdom often reminds us of the dangers of such behavior. In Proverbs 17:9, the sage advises against gossip, not to focus on other people’s affairs. Instead, he directs our focus towards matters of greater significance—towards God and His purpose for our lives.
Indeed, our energy is better invested in nurturing our relationship with God and discerning His will for us. Rather than getting caught up in idle chatter about others’ shortcomings, we’re encouraged to channel our efforts into spiritual growth and acts of service. A wise Christian life is a life centered on deepening faith, extending grace, and lending a helping hand to those in need.
Let’s redirect our conversations and actions towards what truly matters—aligning ourselves with God’s plan and spreading love and kindness in the world.
Book Review: The Dairy of a Young Girl
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A must-read
I think Anne Frank’ diary is a must-read for various reasons. Most importantly, we tend to forget how ugly antisemitism can get. Also, it reminds us that the establishment of the state of Israel was a necessity for saving the Jews from extermination.

End of Story
Every day, more and more people lose all interest and hope. For them, the world simply sucks. People appear cold, senseless, and heartless. There seems to be no sympathy or empathy, only apathy. Will we eventually reach the point of ultimate indifference? It seems that nothing matters anymore: “Everything is futile,” as the writer of Ecclesiastes often stated, and there is no lasting joy in anything in this life.
However, this is not the end of the story for humanity. Contrary to our intuition, our limitations do not always hold us back. Our failures are not without remedy; they can open us to possibilities beyond our grasp. There is the possibility that we are meant for something deeper than we thought and that we need to depend on someone greater than ourselves. This old, yet relevant, need for the divine, our Maker and the source of all true joy—remains!
